Sunday Saves: Our Best Wood Install
Week of November 30th, 2020
We spent a portion of our week styling and capturing a few recently finished projects. Wrapping up long awaited remodel projects can drag on, sometimes the punch list feels like it never ends. Homeowners start using their space and we find tweaks that need small corrections. The good news, we’re here for it and build in plenty of time to make corrections. So when the day comes to take final images of the space, we’re elated – a sure way to reward our efforts!
Whitegate Lane Contemporary
I am sharing an iPhone sneak peek of the lower level bar at a recently finished home in Wayzata, MN. Katie Dean was inspired by an image shared by our clients to create her own mosaic for this backsplash tile install. The complimentary reclaimed white oak elements are sourced from a local, women owned business, Manomin Resawn Timbers. We carefully selected the wood species and built these custom cabinets in our cabinet shop.
In line with our efforts to remain committed to sustainability, reclaimed wood is USED wood. Abandoned wood from old barns, houses, factories to name a few. This wood can be anywhere from 50 to 100 or more years old. Read our recent blog with all the things you need to know about reclaimed timbers here.
Early Look at the Kath Kitchen Selections
Look, we had a rendering of our new kitchen (under construction) done. There are some details not yet captured in this image, arched entry to pantry, glass fridge door, specific color selection and range hood details have yet to be refined. But we’re getting there with the custom cabinets going into production soon in our very own cabinet shop.
With our own spin on styling and decor (we have the most amazing vintage rug just waiting to be used!) this will easily become my new favorite space in the New Year.
Favorite EASY Holiday Cookie Recipes
Anyone else contemplating a cookie swap this year? It may be a quick and easy way to spread holiday cheer while remaining socially distant. We’re sharing a few of our favorites, that can be made on one afternoon. And making cookies isn’t your jam, grab a cookie box from my friend Liza who owns Nosh and Gather. Just a handful left!
A Few of My Favorite Things
These are my three most loved and used products during the winter (well all) months. I’ve been a collagen junkie for 4 years now, a scoop each morning in my coffee. The benefits? Protein, for sure! Skin health (reducing wrinkles) and gut health, brain health – oh and my hair and nails grow at record speeds!
Jesse’s poor hands are so dry and cracked this time of year, Kiehl’s Hand Salve is the best remedy. Speaking of dry skin, I try not to shower every day, and when I do I make it quick which means the good old hair washing takes a back set. The best dry shampoo for the save – Kerastase. Perfect stocking stuffers friends.
2020 Holiday Gift Guide Round up
We’ve launched three gift guides featuring some of our favorites from 2020, and a few things on our own wish lists. All three gift guides are featured here, with a special emphasis on our local guide – supporting small businesses this season is so important!
